We all know what an expense going to the movies is. Tickets $10.00 each on average so family of four spends $40.00 just to walk in door. Once you add popcorn and soda your looking at another $40.00 maybe or more. $80.00 or more for an hour and a half of enjoyment, if movie was even good. Here are some tips to save money and get your monies worth at the theaters.
A. Drive In option.
Yes they still exist. They are cheaper than indoor theaters and sometimes offer two films or more. You have the comfort of your own car or bring lawn chairs and sit outside (if warm enough) Not only this you can bring your own food. Tickets are around $7.00 or so for adults and often times kids under 9 or so are free! Many Drive ins only charge per carload as well. If you bring your own food you dont have that expense. Estimated saving is over $50.00 for family of four. I can add you dont have to worry about sticky floors or talkative neighbors disturbing your enjoyment.
B. Matinee prices.
Most movie theaters discount their tickets down to $7.00 or $8.00 if you come before a certain time (usually 6PM). You can save around $12.00 on ticket prices for your family. This is always a good option as prices are lower and there are likely fewer people so seating choices are better. If your children are young they aren’t up late either. Add that some locations offer student prices so have your kids bring School IDs. Note its not likely you can combine student and matinee prices.
C. Theater discounts.
Many theaters give discounts like one free refill on popcorn. If you coming as a family you can save here so you dont have to buy extra popcorn. Some also give you $1.00 soda if you bring your cup from previous visit. Considering the price of soda this is BIG savings. Not only this is your smart your family will share drinks and save more. A refill of same soda will still only cost a $1.00 if drink is gone. I already mentioned discounts for students. Check your theaters website for additional discounts and offers.
